Elizabeth Arden was a true thoroughbred entrepreneur: In her time, she not only drove her own business, but above all a whole new industry – the American beauty industry. In 1910, Elizabeth Arden laid the foundation stone for this. Born Florence Nightingale Graham, she moved from Woodbridge, a small town in the Canadian province, to the big city of New York and opened the first Red Door Salon on Fifth Avenue. Elizabeth Arden lived according to the motto “Beauty is the birthright of every woman” and believed that charisma is not just a case of makeup, but it needed the intelligent connection of nature and science to develop the right beauty products for women.
